ND SatCom
June 20, 2006

Kazakhstan -- ND SatCom delivered 16 SkyWAN terminals supporting telemedicine applications in Kazakhstan as part of a telemedicine pilot project that has been implemented in two of the 17 Kazakh regions. A follow-up contract for 22 more terminals in three other regions was awarded recently.

In Kazakhstan, SkyWAN connects medical centers, hospitals and medical universities throughout the country. Due to Kazakhstan's lack of terrestrial infrastructure in remote areas, satellite communication is the only solution for fast and reliable connections between rural areas and urban medical institutions.

ND SatCom's telemedicine solution enables telephoning, videoconferencing and the exchange of medical data, such as the latest research findings in databases. Applications supported by the system include live operations and emergency teleconferencing.
