Comprehensive Content, Technology and Marketing Agreement
Adds Healthline's Advanced Search and Navigation Capabilities to
Publication's Award-Winning Health Portal
San Francisco, CA -- Healthline Networks (www.healthline.com),
the leading provider of intelligent health information services,
today announced that it has entered into an exclusive agreement
with U.S. News & World Report for Healthline to power the health
category on the U.S. News Best Health portal. The multiyear
agreement calls for U.S. News & World Report to integrate
Healthline's full suite of medically guided search, navigation
and content services on the magazine's Web site, and gives
Healthline rights to numerous U.S. News site resources. This
unique partnership will significantly enhance the consumer
experience on the U.S. News health portal, and will enable
Healthline to create special content areas on its site and
augment its proprietary Trust Marks search results
accreditation. |

Beginning in
first quarter 2007, consumers who visit the U.S. News Best
Health site will benefit from search results, navigation tools
and content presentation powered by Healthline's Medically
Guided Search(SM) platform. Healthline's suite of services are
built on the company's proprietary semantic taxonomy -- the
largest, multilayered consumer medical database of its kind,
created and maintained by a team of medical informatics
professionals. The agreement will also provide visitors to
Healthline.com with access to select health information from
U.S. News, including its health news feed and its exclusive
rankings on health plans and hospitals.
"As a leading news publisher, U.S. News & World Report has long
understood the growing importance of providing our visitors with
the ability to search and discover a wide range of health and
medical information," said Bill Holiber, president, U.S. News &
World Report. "Our collaboration with Healthline will allow our
visitors to explore our Best Health content using organization
and navigation resources developed by medical professionals.
Best Health is a site that has successfully elevated itself as a
leading resource for a range of health information, from health
plan rankings to breaking health news."
Healthline Networks' suite of intelligent health information
services includes search, navigation and content components that
address consumers' most significant healthcare need today:
access to contextually relevant, quality information supported
by intuitive navigation tools that guide them to more informed
decisions. Healthline's partners can implement these services
either separately or as an integrated suite. The company's
unique Medically Guided Search experience combines the world's
largest consumer medical taxonomy, developed by more than 1,100
physicians and informatics specialists, with advanced search and
navigation technology and licensed content, including
physician-reviewed journal articles and medical encyclopedias
from the world's foremost medical information publishers.
"This partnership is the best example to date of a customer
taking advantage of Healthline's full menu of services to
provide its site users with the most feature-rich, comprehensive
health search available anywhere," said West Shell III, chairman
and chief executive officer, Healthline Networks. "It clearly
demonstrates the power of our semantic taxonomy across two
leading resources for health seekers. At the same time,
Healthline is thrilled to have access to the authoritative and
insightful U.S. News health news and ratings content that has
received so much critical acclaim. We are excited to help build
a 'best of class' health portal and further Mort Zuckerman's
vision of giving consumers direct access to the best health
information available."
