The acquired
clinical telemedicine equipment business unit will continue to
operate under the name AMD Telemedicine. The former company’s
other division, which is focused on telemedicine systems for the
home monitoring market, will also continue as a separate company
under the name AMD Telehealth, Inc. Mark VanderWerf, who served
as president of AMD Telemedicine prior to the acquisition, will
now be president of AMD Telehealth.
As a result of the acquisition, with more than 5000 installed
sites in 68 countries, the new AMD Telemedicine is positioned as
the leading, worldwide supplier of medical devices and related
peripherals used in telemedicine.
“This acquisition is a tremendous opportunity for the new AMD
Telemedicine,” said Steve Normandin. “The telemedicine
technology industry is primed for tremendous growth; and with
our 15 year history of success in providing and supporting
easy-to-use telemedicine products, our team of professionals is
positioned to support this growth on a global scale. We can
furnish telemedicine equipment, technology, and medical
peripherals wherever they are needed around the world. We’re
very excited about this next phase of telemedicine.”
The new AMD Telemedicine will continue to provide its
best-selling line of telemedicine equipment and technology
including the AMD-400 Camera & Illumination Source (http://www.amdtelemedicine.com/products_detail.cfm?Product_
ID=AMD%2D400s&Specialty_ID=PRC500),
the AMD-3550 SmartSteth
Digital Electronic Stethoscope (http://www.amdtelemedicine.com/products_detail.cfm?Product_
ID=AMD%2D3550&Specialty_ID=CAR500),
and the AMD-2500 General
Examination Camera (http://www.amdtelemedicine.com/products_detail.cfm?Product_
ID=AMD%2D2500s&Specialty_ID=PRC500).
With installations in seven countries, AMD Telehealth will
continue to sell and expand its CareCompanion line of home
monitoring products and services. The company recently announced
its industry leading second generation CareCompanion product
combined with complete implementation, training, support, and
service offerings.
“We have been actively separating the functions of these two
businesses over the past three years,” said Mark VanderWerf.
“This separation into two independent companies is a natural
evolution. It will allow each company to focus its strengths and
resources on the needs of each individual target market. The
clinical business has a very strong foundation with leading
products and majority market share. The homecare business has a
strong foundation with, perhaps, the most advanced technology in
its sector and growing market share.”
