PatientKeeper(R), Inc., the leading
provider of integrated physician information systems announced
that its PatientKeeper applications will be available on the
BlackBerry(R) platform from Research In Motion (RIM) (Nasdaq:
RIMM; TSX: RIM). The new offering gives physicians additional
flexibility for accessing the PatientKeeper Physician
Information System and satisfies the growing demand among
PatientKeeper and BlackBerry smartphone customers.
PatientKeeper customer CHRISTUS Health is
already moving quickly to take full advantage of the new
offering. "Our organization has experienced tremendous benefits
from PatientKeeper solutions, from integrated access to data
from multiple systems to the ability to extend the reach and
value of our HCIT systems," said Darrick Nelson, informatics
fellow, CHRISTUS Health. "From an informatics standpoint, our
goal is to provide fast and easy access to normalized data from
multiple systems via a common interface. The addition of
BlackBerry smartphone support will give us more options for
delivering PatientKeeper applications in a way that works best
for each individual physician." |

The BlackBerry platform gives healthcare
organizations industry-leading functionality, flexibility,
manageability and security," said Jeff McDowell, vice president,
global alliances at Research In Motion. "We are very pleased
that BlackBerry smartphones will be supported on the
PatientKeeper Physician Information System, enabling physicians
to provide better quality care by staying connected and
productive while on the go."
The PatientKeeper Physician Information System provides an
integrated suite of software applications that physicians can
use to save time, improve patient care, and improve financial
performance. With PatientKeeper, physicians can access essential
patient information using a single user interface that has
already pulled together information from disparate healthcare
systems across the organization. The BlackBerry platform then
provides advanced wireless connectivity and security to allow
mobile access to important clinical information, which can
better support physicians' daily workflows and overall physician
user adoption.
"PatientKeeper
is focused on making a broad range of applications available
anywhere, anytime with a single point of access," said Paul W.
Brient, PatientKeeper president and CEO. "For busy physicians
trying to manage multiple tasks, the growing popularity of the
BlackBerry platform is undeniable. Making our applications
available on BlackBerry is of the utmost importance to
PatientKeeper."
PatientKeeper software products were
demonstrated on BlackBerry smartphones at the 2008 HIMSS annual
conference, which ran from February 24-28 in Orlando, FL, at
both the PatientKeeper booth #2600 and the Research In Motion
booth #8363.
