New
York, NY (PRWEB) March 24, 2008 -- The Spring Collaborative
Communications Summit: Transforming Healthcare through Health
Information Technology will take place May 5-7, 2008, at the
Mandarin Oriental Washington D.C.
Keynote presentations from two of the most familiar and
respected names in the healthcare industry highlight the Spring
CCS HIT. Their respective presentations will discuss the
challenge of culture change that healthcare faces because of new
technologies; as well as various approaches that will allow
healthcare systems to achieve greater success once they are able
to over come culture change and perform HIT integration.
Darrell G. Kirch, MD, the President and CEO of the Association
of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), will provide the opening
keynote address for the Spring 2008 CCS HIT. Dr. Kirch's
presentation, entitled The Challenge of Culture Change Meets the
Promise of Technology, will take place Monday, May 5th at 9:15
a.m.
"Unleashing the power of IT depends in no small part on health
care's ability to change its culture and work collaboratively,"
said Dr. Kirch. "This conference provides an important
opportunity for the type of multi-disciplinary discussion and
exchange necessary to bring about such transformational change."
Dr. J. Marc Overhage, President and CEO of the Indiana Health
Information Exchange and Director of Medical Informatics at the
Regenstrief Institute, Inc. will provide the opening keynote for
day two of the Summit. His presentation, Take Control of HIE:
Leveraging HIT and Clinical Data to Achieve Quality Healthcare,
will be at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 6th.
Dr. Overhage's keynote discussion will address collaborative
approaches that will enable your healthcare system to achieve
better quality care and improvement through HIT integration.
Delegates will walk away with valuable insights as to the
benefits providers and payors are reaping from health
information exchange.
"Improving quality of care requires the cooperation of the
entire healthcare continuum, and practical solutions that impact
each stakeholder," said Dr. Overhage. "Gatherings such as this
summit bring key stakeholders together to learn and share
real-world success stories that attendees can learn from to help
them navigate the changing healthcare technology landscape."
