David Winn, M.D., the founder
and former CEO of e-MDs, will assume the role of Chairman of the
Board. He will continue to contribute to the strategic direction
of e-MDs while expanding his medical missionary work in foreign
countries and other philanthropic endeavors. Michael Stearns,
M.D., formerly President of e-MDs, has assumed the role of
President and CEO. “Over the past ten years I have seen this
company become one of the foremost providers of EHR software and
services in the country. In his role as President of e-MDs, Dr.
Stearns has demonstrated his leadership and vision in this
industry. His experience as a clinician coupled with his
extensive knowledge of health information technology will ensure
that e-MDs will deliver the right solutions for 21st century
medicine,” stated Dr. Winn.
Dr. Stearns has participated in several high profile health
information technology initiatives sponsored by the National
Library of Medicine, the National Cancer Institute, SNOMED
International, and HITSP. He has also spent much of the last 7
years working closely with physicians on the design, development
and implementation of electronic health records. “I am deeply
honored to be given the opportunity to build on Dr. Winn’s track
record of success. Under his leadership we have assembled a team
of senior healthcare IT managers with the knowledge, experience
and vision to develop solutions to the myriad of challenges
facing today’s healthcare providers,” commented Dr. Stearns.
Maria Rudolph, MPH, has assumed the role of Vice President of
Business Development. She brings extensive experience with
electronic health record ( EHR ) vendors from her past roles in
development and implementation at Cerner and QuadraMed, two
leading acute care EHR vendors. More recently, she led
Informatics initiatives for two major medical associations, the
American College of Cardiology ( ACC ) and the American College
of Physicians ( ACP ). “I am delighted and honored to be part of
the e-MDs team and look forward to contributing to the ongoing
excellence and growth of this product. New models of delivering
care, such as the medical home, emphasize the need for care that
is coordinated and integrated across care settings. Physicians
will require seamless financial and clinical solutions like
those offered by e-MDs that not only resolve workflow issues
within the practice, but also allow physicians to share
information amongst themselves and with other healthcare
facilities,” said Maria Rudolph.
“With Ms. Rudolph we have an outstanding addition to an already
strong senior management team. She will accelerate our ability
to implement robust data sharing between health care
organizations and optimize our products for national initiatives
such as the medical home,” stated Dr. Stearns. “We have enhanced
our ability to serve as educators and thought leaders in the
medical community.”
