BUSINESS WIRE
June 23, 2009

SAN JOSE, California - NDS Surgical Imaging (NDSsi) of San Jose, California, today announced the acquisition of a wireless video technology that extends its current imaging capabilities in the operating room (OR) and beyond. By integrating this new technology with its market-leading medical visualization and informatics platforms, the company plans to develop a compelling array of wireless solutions for surgical, endoscopy and interventional suites.

The new medical-grade ZeroWire product line will deliver the world’s finest full HD image quality with assured interference immunity and security, using the patented technology acquired from TZero Technologies. Based upon open industry standards, ZeroWire products will be purpose built with ultra-low latency for real-time surgical video, providing the highest reliability and performance achievable for today’s multi-modality imaging environments. With this acquisition, NDSsi also formed a wireless engineering team, creating the first dedicated wireless development capability in the medical visualization industry.

“We understand the importance of image quality and reliability, especially for minimally-invasive surgical procedures,” explained John Murphy, the company’s President and Chief Executive Officer, “and NDSsi will provide a uniquely robust wireless solution to our medical OEM customers and partners. The prospect of implementing high-performance HD wireless solutions in surgical imaging is very exciting.”

As a global leader in medical visualization informatics, the core mission of NDSsi is to enable new clinical imaging solutions and fuel collaborative medicine. In addition to quality and reliability, these new wireless capabilities will also help drive OR productivity by lowering installation costs, accelerating OR turn-around time, and offering greater flexibility to clinicians everywhere.
