The World of Health IT Conference & Exhibition (WoHIT)
Organizing Committee welcomes the European Federation for
Medical Informatics (EFMI) as a new member for the 2008
Conference. The conference will be held in Copenhagen, Denmark
on Nov. 4-6, 2008. The EFMI supports healthcare informatics and
all disciplines concerned with healthcare and informatics; 30
countries are now members of the organisation.

honourable position with recognition from the European
Commission and other leading organizations in our field," said
Prof. George Mihalas, EFMI president. "I look forward to EFMI
being part of this cooperative effort for the World of Health IT

The Organising Committee serves
as the umbrella coordinating body for the conference and
exhibition. Together with the Education Advisory Committee
(EAC), the Organising Committee provides the final
recommendations for the educational sessions, which will meet
the needs of the target audience of end users, governments,
ministries of health, academics and industries. Other members of
the Organising Committee are:

Now in its third year, the World of Health IT Conference &
Exhibition connects European and national leaders in healthcare
and technology by providing practically based education and
exhibits, networking and other professional development
opportunities.
The WoHIT Organising Committee and Education Advisory Committee
will meet in April to participate in the final selection of
papers for the education program and identify any additional
topics for invited sessions during the conference in Copenhagen.

expertise and guidance of the Organising Committee to work
closely with the Education Advisory Committee to set the
strategic direction of the conference," said H. Stephen Lieber,
CAE, HIMSS president/CEO. "The addition of EFMI is an important
enhancement as we plan for the 2008 Conference."

The European Federation for Medical Informatics (EFMI) was
formed in 1976 with assistance from the Regional Office for
Europe of the World Health Orgnisation (WHO). Formed as a
nonprofit organization, the EFMI is concerned with the theory
and practice of information science and technology within health

EFMI are to advance international co-operation and dissemination
of information in medical informatics on a European basis; to
promote high standards in the application of medical
informatics; to promote research and development in medical
