Siemens Introduces
Upgraded Digital Remote Fluoroscopy Solution With Dynamic Flat
Detector Technology
Siemens Medical
Solutions
December 06, 2006
Chicago, IL -- Siemens Medical Solutions has introduced the
AXIOM Luminos dRF, a new remote fluoroscopy system with flat
detector (FD) technology, and announced enhancements to the
AXIOM Aristos FX Plus, the company’s fully automatic digital
radiography system, at the 92nd Scientific Assembly and Annual
Meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) from
Nov. 26 to Dec. 1 (booth #4129) in Chicago. Together, these
product innovations reinforce Siemens’ workflow leadership in
the fluoroscopy and radiography markets. |

The AXIOM
Luminos dRF*
Siemens AXIOM Luminos dRF is a highly versatile remote
radiographic and fluoroscopic solution with dynamic FD
technology that makes the system a fully digital solution for
enhanced workflow during fluoroscopic and radiographic
examinations. The system has been designed to optimize
fluoroscopy imaging of obese patients. This is in response to
studies that suggest obesity in the U.S. has doubled the
instances of inconclusive imaging exams over the past 15 years.
With almost 30 percent of U.S. adults now categorized as obese,
Siemens developed the AXIOM Luminos dRF to speed workflow for
bariatric procedures.
The system can be used for a wide range of patient sizes and
minimizes specialty equipment requirements, resulting in
improved patient accessibility, faster patient turnaround and,
ultimately, an increase in volume. The AXIOM Luminos dRF also
includes optimized networking capabilities for documentation and
easy integration into the clinical environment.
“The AXIOM Luminos dRF remote radiographic and fluoroscopic
solution will greatly improve exam workflow,” said Claus Grill,
vice president, Angiography, Fluoroscopy and Radiography
Systems, Siemens Medical Solutions. “Having the ability to image
patients quickly with diagnostic accuracy means that healthcare
institutions can increase exam volume and improve staff
efficiency without sacrificing the quality of patient care.”
The sophisticated system design of the AXIOM Luminos dRF also
provides a variable table height along with excellent access to
the patient. Improved high table weight capacity now supports up
to 500 pounds static, and a robust X-ray tube combined with the
large field of view of the FD enables this system to perform a
broad range of applications on many different patient types. The
AXIOM Luminos dRF fluoroscopy system with FD technology
integrates fully digital fluoroscopy and digital radiography in
one room.
New Compact Configuration for the AXIOM Aristos FX Plus
Also at RSNA, Siemens announced enhancements to the AXIOM
Aristos FX Plus, an upgraded version of its popular predecessor,
the AXIOM Aristos FX. The AXIOM Aristos FX Plus has set new
standards in patient comfort and examination efficiency. As the
first fully automatic digital radiography system, the AXIOM
Aristos FX Plus features a new compact footprint with reduced
table size requirements and elimination of the system’s
headrest. Although the system is available with a smaller room
configuration, its functionality has not been compromised.
Technologists can conveniently operate the system from anywhere
in the room using the optional wireless remote control. The
wireless remote offers key system features including collimator
setting and a tabletop positioning. Additionally, X-ray tube and
detector positioning can be controlled from virtually anywhere
in the room ensuring exams are not only faster, but also more
comfortable for the patient.
“The AXIOM Aristos FX Plus can image an assortment of anatomic
regions with ease,” said Grill. “The image quality is exquisite
and the efficiency of the system is remarkable. This is the
solution that the competition will try to emulate.”
The flat detector of the AXIOM Aristos FX Plus features a new
detector housing and grid management system proven to be highly
efficient. Regardless of system position, the new AXIOM Aristos
FX Plus grid housing design enables fast and easy grid insertion
and removal with a simple push of a button. The system features
optimal organ program settings that set optimal parameters for
the generator, imaging system and collimator. New patient
support hand grips are included for additional comfort and
stability, improving patient positioning and image quality. With
all new color options, users can custom design the system to
suit the clinical environment.
Both the AXIOM Luminos dRF and AXIOM Aristos FX Plus are
equipped with CARE, an advanced radiation reduction package that
lowers dosage by up to 50 percent over conventional film
systems.
